The Rheinlander can meet all of your needs for your special event, wherever you chose to host it!
The Northwest Down Syndrome Association is inviting friends and family to der Rheinlander restaurant on NE Sandy and 50th Avenue on March 21 to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. The 5 to 8 p.m. event will feature singing servers, live accordion music and German fare off of an a la carte menu. Call 503-288-5503 to reserve a spot.
World Down Syndrome Day started in 2005 to create a global voice for the rights, inclusion and well-being of people with Down syndrome. The 21st of March (21/3) represents the 3 copies of chromosome 21, which is unique to people with Down syndrome. The aim of World Down Syndrome Day is to promote awareness and understanding, seek international support, and to achieve dignity, equal rights and a better life for people with Down syndrome everywhere.
The relationship between Northwest Down Syndrome Association and der Rheinlander began two years ago with the annual Buddy Walk at the Rose Quarter. In 2010, the Oktoberfest celebration at der Rheinlander raised funds to help support the NWDSA in providing a Winter Social for their members and families. Der Rheinlander will proudly support the NWDSA in events throughout the year; including the 2011 Buddy Walk.
